Originally known as the Llanelli Scarlets until the 2008-2009 season, they were first formed in 2003 by the Welsh Rugby Union to make up one of the five regional teams.  One of their most famous wins in their small history compared to other clubs, was their win over Toulouse away in the 2006-2007 Heineken Cup.
